David Bouchard's Work Literacy – a basic human right!Aboriginal Success

Literacy – a basic human right!
Every person should be allowed to read. Every person should be encouraged to read. Reading is as basic a right as voting and is almost as basic a need as eating and drinking.  If a person does not read, he or she is denied life opportunities. This reality became clear to David Bouchard over the course of twenty seven years as an educator and during his life experiences as a father. First, he came to understand how important reading was. Then, he learned what it takes to become a reader. Moved by his learnings, he wrote The Gift of Reading and For the Love of Reading. He resigned his position as a school principal to travel and share this invaluable message with hundreds of thousands the world over. In North America, Europe and Asia, David speaks at conferences, schools, community halls and jails. He speaks to any group that can benefit by his important message. For over 12 years, David has been helping those who need direction or inspiration to become readers.

Aboriginal Success!

During his many years on the road, David Bouchard has worked extensively within aboriginal communities. He understands why aboriginal people struggle as readers and how that is directly related to many of the challenges they face in succeeding in the educational system.
